CHRIS DUARTEB.A.E. in Architectural Engineering
Graduated in Spring of 2014 Technical Manager, THG |
"I would most certainly credit the beginning and continual success of my career to the involvement and opportunities I had with TPEG. Outside of the club, I began as a ride operator at Cedar Point where I learned guest behavior and operational needs of an amusement park. I then interned at the Technical Services & Engineering department at Universal Orlando Resort where I was taught drawing and documentation methods for various attraction equipment, safety procedures for working in a high-risk environment, and accelerometer data collection. Both of my industry experiences as a student, coupled with my attendance to the IAAPA and ASTM-F24 conferences, gave me exposure to facilities and personnel which has continued to prove invaluable in my career.
After graduating, I moved to Los Angeles to work at Thinkwell Group. While this was a departure from my engineering background, I was able to learn the creative process and client interfacing skills that I now use frequently. I then managed project design and procurement for Palace Entertainment where I was able to design and build several attractions and interface with national brands such as MATTEL and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Currently, I oversee the development of ride and show systems for a variety of industry clients at THG Creative. Most recently, I oversaw the installation of ride and show equipment for the Freedom Theater at the National WWII Museum in New Orleans.”
